I am a lover of glitter, ice cream, snowy days, rainbows, polka dots, and other yummy things.  Ever since I can remember, I’ve been collecting and making stuff.  Dollhouse furniture emerged from shampoo lids and spools of thread, and as I filled my dreamy drawings with unicorns and hearts, I faithfully returned each crayon to the box in rainbow-order.

After leaving my hometown in Indiana for the Maryland Institute College of Art, I graduated with a BFA in Fibers and an MAT  in Art Education.  For many years, I’ve been teaching elementary art where I am granted permission to use glitter and play on a daily basis.  But I’ve also remained a collector and creator at heart, turning my love of vintage and modern + found and discarded materials into Sugar Paperie, a line of decadent handcrafted paper goods.

When I’m not repetitively cutting, gluing, and printing pretty paper goodies for Sugar Paperie, you can find me thrifting in the mid-atlantic or the midwest,  at home cooking, decorating our 1940’s Baltimore home, or cruising the Chesapeake Bay with my sweet, sweet husband.

About The Work

Sugar Paperie is a collection of decadent stationery, handcrafted in small batches from an array of newly found, vintage, and reclaimed materials. A devoted collector, I scour thrift shops and estate sales, rescuing vintage trims, discarded books and maps, and all things pretty. With these lovely castaways, I playfully juxtapose my collected findings with boldly colored papers and patterned ribbons. These delicious combinations exude vintage charm and a modern sensibility, while remaining eco-chic.

Sugar Shop showcases a collection of vintage housewares and accessories, each treasure handpicked and deeply adored by me.  This line of vintage goodies will soon grow to include new, handmade wearables and homegoods, designed with the vintage-modern aesthetic of Sugar Paperie.
